Perez prepares for a home milestone: 300 Grand Prix starts

Mexico City is set to host a personal landmark for Sergio Perez, whose Formula 1 career has taken him from Sauber to Cadillac.

Sergio Perez is approaching his 300th Formula 1 Grand Prix start at the race that carries the strongest personal connection: his home event in Mexico City. F1.com's career retrospective, published on October 29, places the milestone ahead of this weekend's race rather than treating it as an achievement already completed.

A career built across different eras

Perez made his F1 debut with Sauber in 2011. His subsequent path took in McLaren, Force India and Racing Point, followed by Red Bull and his current Cadillac chapter. The sequence includes both front-running opportunities and periods in which simply keeping a place on the grid was uncertain.

The official retrospective revisits his early Sauber podiums, the difficult McLaren season, his recovery with Force India and the breakthrough victory at Sakhir in 2020. It also covers his Red Bull successes and the move to Cadillac after a season away.

The milestone still lies ahead

Mexico gives that long career a particularly fitting setting. For now, the accurate description is that Perez is preparing for start number 300. The sporting result of the weekend is a separate story, to be established on track.
